Terracotta Warriors tickets: booking and getting there

Last checked 2026-10-17 · ChinaLocal team

The short answer

The Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum uses real-name online reservations. Its official ticket guide says foreign visitors can reserve through the museum website or its named official WeChat accounts, using passport information. Buy before travelling to the site; do not assume a walk-in ticket will be available.

The Terracotta Warriors Museum is in Lintong, outside central Xi’an. The official route uses Metro Line 9 to Huaqingchi, Exit C, then about 200 metres on foot to the bus stop. Bus 613 ends at 秦俑村 (Qinyongcun), while 602 ends at 秦兵马俑 (Qin Bingmayong). Check current services before leaving.

The museum complex also includes the Mausoleum Archaeological Site Park (Lishan Garden). The museum’s guide suggests about 1.5 hours for each site and says a free shuttle connects them. Decide whether you want both before setting your day’s return time.

What to do

  1. Open the museum’s official ticket page and read the current purchase notice for the visit date. The museum names its website and two official WeChat accounts as booking channels.
  2. Enter the name and passport details for each visitor accurately. Keep the original passport or other document used for the reservation; the museum says it checks original valid identity documents at admission.
  3. Choose the site and time shown in the live booking flow. Save the order confirmation offline in case data service is weak during the journey.
  4. Before departure, check the official museum transport page. For Metro Line 9, leave Huaqingchi through Exit C and walk about 200 metres to the bus stop. Check whether bus 613 to 秦俑村 or 602 to 秦兵马俑 is running. Another official route uses Metro Line 3 to Tonghuamen and the Terracotta Warriors scenic shuttle at the Qin Feng departure station (秦风发车场).
  5. Allow time for security, walking and the return journey. If visiting Lishan Garden too, check the shuttle and the day’s last admission in the museum’s current notice.

Which site are you booking?

The official museum describes two sites: the Terracotta Warriors Museum and the Mausoleum Archaeological Site Park, also called Lishan Garden. Read the booking description for what your chosen admission covers. The museum’s guide gives about 1.5 hours at each site and mentions a free shuttle between them; that is a planning suggestion, not a promise that everyone will see every hall in that time.

The museum may publish temporary exhibit, capacity or opening-time changes. If a ticket category or time is missing from the current page, do not fill it in from an older travel article. Use the museum’s purchase notice or its contact channel.

Getting to Lintong

The museum’s official directions say to leave Metro Line 9 at Huaqingchi Exit C and walk about 200 metres to the bus stop. Lintong You 613 terminates at 秦俑村; 602 terminates at 秦兵马俑. Alternatively, take Metro Line 3 to Tonghuamen and the scenic shuttle from the Qin Feng departure station (秦风发车场). From Xi’an North, the official directions also describe transfers through Lines 2 and 1 before Line 9. The precise fastest itinerary depends on your starting point and current timetable, so compare the route again in a live map or with station staff.

Save the museum’s Chinese name 秦始皇帝陵博物院(兵马俑) and the official destination address in Lintong. Do not choose a similarly named private exhibition or a tour pickup point when searching a map. The museum’s official site is the final reference for entry and shuttle instructions.

If your plan changes

Review the order in the same official channel used to buy it. The museum ticket page publishes current order lookup and refund instructions; conditions may depend on ticket type and timing. If you entered the wrong passport number, resolve the mismatch with the museum before your travel day. A screenshot with edited text is not a reservation.

Common problems

Can a foreign visitor reserve with a passport?

Yes. The museum lists foreign visitors and passport information in its real-name booking and admission rules.

How much time should I set aside?

The museum’s guide suggests roughly 1.5 hours at each of its two sites, plus travel and any queue. Adjust the day to your own pace.

Is there a direct metro stop at the museum?

The official public-transport route uses Metro Line 9 to Huaqingchi, then an onward bus. Recheck the service before you go.

What if I cannot find a ticket?

Use the museum’s current official booking channel or contact it. This guide does not promise walk-in availability or a fixed release window.
