Before you go
Choose Wulingyuan for the Forest Park or a Zhangjiajie city base for Tianmen. Confirm your actual hotel and entry gate.
Use the official mini-programs 张家界国家森林公园 and 天门山; check each product and entry calendar.
ChinaLocal planning suggestion: allow at least two nights and keep time around arrival and departure. These are full-day destinations; avoid combining a major visit with an intercity travel day.

Forest Park ticket validity
The Forest Park main ticket is valid for four days. Reserve every repeat entry; other products have their own validity conditions.

Forest Park reservations & documents
Every entry during those four days requires an advance real-name reservation for the date, time slot and gate. A four-day main ticket is required to buy internal transport. Passport is an available document type; payment and ticket collection can differ between channels. During Spring Festival, summer holidays and National Day, the official advice is to avoid descending via Tianzi cableway or Bailong Elevator at 16:30–18:30. Weather or force-majeure closures are not grounds for a refund after admission. Support: 0744-5959888.

Book when dates appear in the official mini-program calendar. No fixed advance-booking window has been confirmed.

Tianmen booking & refunds
The mini-program recommends booking 3–10 days ahead; this is advice, not a confirmed sales window. Tickets are valid only on the chosen visit day. Chinese ID holders can scan their ID; passport and other document holders must show their original document and electronic or paper ticket for manual checking before scanning the ticket. Support: 4009693398. The temporary notice waives handling fees for refund operations after 18 May 2026 at 17:00 for visits from 19 May through 31 October 2026. The C-line page separately states no refund handling fee, but no refund after 17:00 on the visit day. Check the original channel for any later change.

Tianmen cableway route
From 13 October 2026 the main Tianmen cableway is fully suspended for upgrading. A/B and one-way routes 1/2 are paused. The currently sold product is named 双索道 C 线: main gate → Tianmen Cave Express Cableway → Tianmen Cave → seven upper escalators → summit, returning the same way. It includes return travel on that express cableway and those upper escalators. Do not infer that the lower escalators or the suspended main cableway are included.

Tianmen hours & shuttle
The booking conditions list 08:00–17:00, subject to official notices. A free shuttle links the lower cableway station and the mountain gate; individual facilities may have different operating times.
